I am just really angry right now. My mom continuously denies me in getting a gym membership. I know I may sound like the whiny privileged brat but I’m really swamped and I need one very much.

I go for runs often and do exercises (push ups, squats, whatever) religiously and I’m trying really hard to live without a gym but having access to real weights and machines would be so utterly helpful and she doesn’t even see it!

I’ve tried everything, I don’t have enough money to afford a membership, and as a full time student with my five day a week soccer schedule and my other commitments I’ve found jobs really hard. It just baffles me that she can deny me my health like that. Maybe I’m being a little dramatic but I’ve literally been asking for a membership for months and months and with graduation and summer coming up I am really worried I won’t reach my UGW without the machines and weights a gym provides.

Argsshjklaskl sorry for the personal post but just so concerned about things right now.

As for sandwiches, as long as you are using non-processed foods as fillers almost everything can be healthy, to an extent, of course. I start with whole wheat bread. Then, I usually take whatever leftover meat there is from last night’s dinner (sometimes roasted chicken, beef stir fry, turkey, ham, you get it) and start with that. Add spinach or lettuce, and whatever veggies you find appetizing. I almost always add onions, olives, cilantro and tomatoes, because those are my favorites, however just add whatever you feel like! When it comes to dressing I cannot stress enough how many calories people tend to waste on dumb spreads like mayo. Switch to low fat mayo if you reeeeally need to, however ranch, another substitute (like a veggie dip or your own creation) or even better no dressing/spread at all would be ideal. My rule is I only like to have one protein on my sandwich, so if I am doing a meat on it already I don’t usually add cheese, but if I do a vegetarian sandwich I have a mozzarella, roasted tomatoes and pesto sandwich. But adding cheese is up to you. Mostly when it comes to sandwiches its just kind of what you find in your fridge type of thing, like oh, here is some tuna or here is some peanut butter, lets see what we can do. But what I cannot stress enough is: stay away from processed meats, cheeses and spreads at all costs!

As for the running thing, I know exactly how you feel. There is nothing I hate more than seeing people I know while running or getting a text from someone after my run saying ‘oh I saw you running!’ What I try to do is go at times that I wouldn’t normally see people. For example, no one gets up earlier than seven on a weekend without reason. So that’s when I go for a run. Or because I have a spare period at school, I get to come home early on thurdsays, and thus, go for a run. It’s also good to plan out a map before you go to minimize run ins with people you don’t like. But all I can say is it really doesn’t matter what other people think, because in two months when you are fit and healthy, and the others who judged you for running aren’t, they will think twice about critiquing you in the future. So just get out there and don’t worry!

Frozen Strawberry Protein Sorbet
I have this as a small snack or as desert if I’m craving something sweet post meal.


1/2-1 cup FROZEN Strawberries
1/2 cup of unsweetened Almond Milk
1 scoop Vanilla Brown Rice Protein powder
1 packet of Stevia (optional)

Place it all in a blender or food processor and Blend until it’s thick (thicker then a smoothie).  
Also good if you top it with some more berries, granola, nuts or a bit of chocolate!
